The final remembered for one of football's most shocking moments. Zinedine Zidane scored an audacious Panenka penalty to put France ahead in the seventh minute. Materazzi equalised with a header. Then in extra time, Zidane was provoked by Materazzi — reportedly over an insult to his sister — and headbutted him in the chest, earning a red card in the last game of his career.
