๐Ÿ“– The Story of the Final
Italy's first World Cup was played on home soil under the patronage of Mussolini. Czechoslovakia, the outsiders, took a shock lead through Puฤ with twenty minutes left. Italy equalised through a swerving Orsi shot and then scored the winner in extra time through Schiavio. The tournament was notable for its physicality and controversy โ€” and for Uruguay's refusal to defend their title (they boycotted over poor European attendance at 1930). Italy manager Vittorio Pozzo became the only man to win two World Cups, retaining the title four years later in France.
