๐Ÿ“– The Story of the Final
England's only World Cup triumph remains the most debated final in the sport's history. Geoff Hurst gave England the lead but Haller equalised for Germany. Peters made it 2โ€“1 before Weber equalised in the last minute of normal time. In extra time, Hurst's shot hit the crossbar and bounced down โ€” the linesman judged it had crossed the line. Modern analysis suggests it almost certainly hadn't. England held on and Hurst completed his hat-trick with the last kick of the game โ€” 'They think it's all over... it is now.' England have not won a World Cup since.
